8. King of Prussia Mall, Pennsylvania USA

The largest shopping mall in the United States covers nearly three million square feet. King of Prussia Mall opened its doors in 1963, when it consisted of two distinct buildings that have since been connected. This vast mall attracts 22 million visitors each year, thanks to its big-name brands like Nordstrom, Macy’s and Bloomingdales, plus other luxury retailers.

9. New South China Mall, Dongguan, China

The world’s largest mall in terms of gross leasable area comes with a huge caveat - it’s mostly empty! For the first ten years, only about 1% of its space was in use by retailers, mainly because of the mall’s hard-to-reach position outside of Beijing. It was jokingly referred to as the ‘world’s largest abandoned mall’! Fortunately, it’s a lot livelier today, and has an IMAX-style cinema and theme park. There are seven zones modelled on various famous cities around the world, and the Paris area has a 25-metre replica of the Arc de Triomphe.
